A damage panorama photo from San Francisco's 1906 earthquake. The photo was taken by George Lawrence, a professional photographer from Chicago. It was taken from 2000 feet above the bay using the 'Captive Airship,' an array of 17 kites on a piano-wire cable, from which a 49-pound, swing-lens panoramic camera was suspended.
