Marie Antoinette was pillaried for nothing. History has judged her poorly. She was not as uncaring about the poor as she was made out to be.
Her infamous quote, "Let them eat cake.", had a different meaning then. Cake is the term applied to bread that overflows the pan and bakes on the sheet. Rather than throw it out she was telling them to give it to the poor instead.
