The Half-Bridge Of Hope

Nikola-Lenivets is a tiny village in the Kaluga region in Russia. Recently it has become well-known in Moscow art circles thanks to Timur Bashkayev's 'Half-Bridge of Hope,' a giant wedge that plunges over the outcropping's edge and tapers to nothing at a height of about 10 meters above the ground.

I found this photo of the "Half Bridge of Hope" while researching a sermon entitled "God's love is greater than our Fear." The article said of the "half-bridge": "It has no any logical meaning or practical purpose..." I think differently. My thought is that God's love of the Russian people is greater than their fear....and this wooden symbol - this half a bridge of hope - suggests that their hope is not lost. Such might be the symbol for all who are caught in oppression in this world. The peace of Christ be with us all.
