245 Countries In 10 Minutes

Yesterday I had a quiz in which you had to name the 50 United States in 10 minutes. Today we'll go a bit further. You have 10 minutes to remember as many of the 245 countries in the world as you can.

There are not 245 countries. Puerto Rico is not a country, nor is Gibralter. There are roughly 193 countries right now give or take a couple. But erroneously adding overseas territories is just plain bad. Especially when you choose your territories. IE leaving off Greenland.

I agree.

I think it's using the list from
Wikipedia
. This list is a bit hair-splitting (ie it distinguishes between colonies still ruled as dependent territories and colonies that have been integrated into the home political system), as well as including some de facto independent places that most people have never heard of. But its logic is sound.

And is there a difference between People's Republic of China and Republic of China? Now I see why no matter how I spelled China I didn't get credit. Same goes for North/South Korea. And if we're being so specific, why is it the United States, and not the United States of America?

Aw, who cares...
