A collection of strange places where people still live. It's more than a collection of strange houses of which there are millions, it's a demonstration of the relationship that humans have with their environment and the way in which they have used and shaped it to their own needs.
Shown above is the Hotel Sidi Driss in the village of Matmâta in Tunisia. I stayed there 35 years ago. It's a traditional Berber troglodyte underground building. The hotel served as the home of Luke Skywalker on the planet Tatooine in the Star Wars movies. Note the remainining set pieces incorporated into the walls.
