The Animotus is a 3D printed device created by Adam Spiers, a postdoc in robotics at Yale University, that changes shape in your hand in order to guide you to places. It is an alternative to looking at a screen or listening to commands when using GPS-like services.
The Animotus was recently tested with blind, visually impaired and sighted people in 'Flatland' - a large scale theatre production set in darkness. The device has the potential to be used for both outdoor and indoor navigation in everyday applications.
