Cooking With Glass: How Pyrex Transformed Every Kitchen Into A Home-Ec Lab

For most of us, it's impossible to recall the first time we encountered Pyrex: Almost from its debut in 1915 by American manufacturer Corning Incorporated, as the first glassware for cooking, Pyrex has been a ubiquitous part of the kitchen.

The temperature-resistant glassware has its roots in the laboratories of an industrial glass work. Indeed, the kitchenware line we take for granted once provided the material for the world's largest telescopic lens. To coincide with a new exhibition at the Corning Museum of Glass detailing the brand's legacy, Collectors Weekly delved into the roots of Pyrex and its groundbreaking glassware.
