Did you know that in the 1940s and 1950s, Colonel Sanders, the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken, started off by owning gas stations that also sold chicken dinners. His stations suffered after the construction of the interstate highway system, so he went into franchising his chicken restaurant instead.

Colonel Sanders had a gas station, alright, but to be honest, his hotel and restaurant also provided income. The restaurant is still there, but it's a museum now, with a modern KFC attached. There are museum pieces in the fast-food part and you can sit and eat in the museum. It's just down the street from where I live.
