Paperscape - A Map Of Scientific Research

Cornell University's arXiv.org provides open access to 871,788 e-prints in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Quantitative Biology, Quantitative Finance and Statistics.

Paperscape is a tool to visualise the arXiv. Each paper in the map is represented by a circle, with the area of the circle proportional to the number of citations that paper has. As you zoom in on the map labels will start to appear on individual papers. Zooming in closer also shows the author(s) of the paper.

An exceptionally cool link, this one. Thanks for posting it - definitely one to pass round my own circles.

A map of scientific research is like a compass guiding us through the vast expanse of knowledge and discovery. From the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of space, scientific research knows no bounds, transcending borders and boundaries in its pursuit of truth and enlightenment
