Silent Piano Technology

Yamaha created a piano with Silent Piano Technology. With this technology the piano can be played silently using headphones. When the silent function is activated, the hammers will no longer hit the strings and instead, a highly sophisticated sensor-technology captures all movements of the keys and sends them to the digital tone module.

In this video, South Korean musician Hyun Jung Lim performs extracts from Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No.2 on the new Yamaha SH Silent Piano along London's Regent's Canal.
