MiG Monuments: Former Soviet States Commend A Cold War Icon

In the decades following World War Two, tens of thousands of jet aircraft were manufactured to fight a war that thankfully stayed relatively cold. So it's no wonder that a lot of jets developed by design bureaus like Mikoyan-Gurevich endure today in various states of preservation and decay across former Warsaw Pact countries.

Some of them have been immortalised as monuments, some in good condition, others virtually abandoned. And they're not limited to aviation museums or military bases. These MiGs also appear amid the suburban housing estates of towns and cities.
