Question: Why Is My iPad Sending Me To A Presurfer Mobile Site

A couple of days ago I noticed that everytime I want to see The Presurfer on my iPad, it's sending me to a mobile site. Before that, the URL of the Presurfer took me to the regular site. Now the URL says: presurfer.blogspot.com/?m=1. Even when I type presurfer.blogspot.com, the iPad still adds the ?m=1 part. When I change the 1 into a 0, I can see the regular site.

I know that on Blogger (that's where The Presurfer is hosted) you can enable a mobile site. But I didn't do that. For a while I thought it had to be something on my side, but today I received an email from a Presurfer reader who experienced the same problem. Does anyone else have this problem? Maybe it's something Apple does. I have no clue. Does anyone know what's going on here?

It's doing the same for me for last couple of weeks. I'm personally happy about being directed to a mobile version as your video's never aligned correctly when viewing the standard site on iPad.

The right side of video box always spilled out of the center column and behind the right column which would not only cut it off, but not allow for clicking the full screen option.

@bike Jax: I don't know what version of the iPad you have, but on my iPad (third generation) when I see the regular site, the video's are all showing correctly.

iPad mini with latest, greatest iOS is taking me to the mobile site, but I am ok with that. It looks great!

Might an Apple genius at Applecare have an opinion?

I'm no expert, but I think it's actually Blogger. Some themes sense whether you're visiting the site on a mobile device, and then switch to the mobile version. It happens on Wordpress too (which is the framework that Criggo uses. I'm not sure you can do anything about it unless you get into the programming of Blogger and play with the settings.

Hey old friend,

If I were a betting man I'd lay my money on your blogging platform being the culprit. I too can only view the mobile site using Safari for iPad. Chrome for iPad still pulls in the desktop version on demand so somewhere along the line, blogger is analyzing a useragent() and going from there. I'd say that an email to blogger is in order unless you can track down Evan Williams though the iPad wasnt around when he started Pyra.

Thanx so much for the "turn the 1 to a 0 in the URL" tip!
I loathe mobile sites, especially on a blog like this. I like to open a few windows from the links on one page in the blog, read the articles, then go to the next page and do it again, etc. What happens with the mobile site is I'll open a few windows, read them, but when I go back to the blog it resets and I'm back at the top again. It's annoying to have to keep scrolling down to find where I was. This is much better, as even if the page resets, I'm only at the top of a single page, not a week's worth of posts!

On some page coding, if you surf to the bottom, it will ask if you want the mobile or full site ...

It's always been that way when I use your blog on my Android phone from Dolphin Browser HD.
