Quicksand is a bed of loose sand mixed with water forming a soft shifting mass that yields easily to pressure and tends to engulf any object resting on its surface. Thankfully, quicksand isn't as dangerous in real life as it appears to be in Hollywood movies. However, don't use that as an excuse to underestimate this natural phenomena, as quicksand is a real danger and it can potentially kill you.
