The MacGyver Approach To Winter Biking

A low-cost solution to keep on biking. One of the cyclists at Dutch Bike Co. was caught without studded tires when it started snowing in Seattle. But there's nothing that a box of zip ties can't fix! This MacGyver trick isn't new, but now that winter is here, it's worth bringing up once more.

(thanks Cora)

Boy that's dumb. The hard plastic will massively reduce grip should you happen to meet clear tarmac. There will be no increase in cornering grip. Why not just fit some reasonably treaded tyres?

Oh,please. As if you need studded tire to ride through a 1/2 inch of slush. You work in a frikken BIKE SHOP. Slap some knobbies on it ,and 1/2 inflate them. Go anywhere, and not look like a total poser to boot.

Don't know where you live, but we've had considerably more than half an inch of slush. Our street was hard packed snow for about three weeks.
