a nickname is not something like Dick for Richard (or Rik for Richard in Dutch, like me!).or Bill for Wiliam (in my brothers case Pim voor Willem (http://kwint-ia.nl/ and go take a look there....). a nicjname is something like 'Red' or like 198 (for a girl who is 1,98 meters tall..), or like Tomba, my good friend who is teh worst skieer in the world and falls down a lot (tombé in french). Or Pantzerglasse for the guy with the biggest spectacles you can imagine in school..

Yes Rik, it is!
According to the dictionairy:

"A nickname can also be the familiar or truncated form of the proper name, which may sometimes be used simply for convenience (e.g. 'Bob,' 'Bobby,' 'Rob,' 'Robbie,' for the name Robert."
