Flak Towers: The Continuing Legacy Of The Luftwaffe

The Flak Towers that protected the Third Reich were considered invulnerable. Some of these massive buildings still remain. But what should be done with them? In 1940 Hitler, incensed by the successful bombing of Berlin by the RAF, ordered the construction of three enormous flak towers to protect the city, an idea which quickly spread around the country.

Considered invulnerable at the time - and they pretty much were, many of these colossal structures still stand. The question now is whether to let them molder away or to preserve and rehabilitate them as functional and useful buildings for the twenty first century.
