Indian/Pakistani Border Closing Ceremony

The Wagah Border between India and Pakistan closes every evening at 5pm. It's a real spectacle with thousands of people filling up the grandstands on either side to watch the ceremony.

Despite some pretty aggressive facing-off between the two countries, the Pakistani and Indian soldiers always shake hands before the gates are shut.

I laughed at the Monty Python reference.

Isn't it funny how what looks tough and mcho to one set of people looks pretty welll.....gay to others?

I bet our pickup trucks look like that to someone.

I nearly got stomped to death in 1972 while watching a change of guard in East Berlin. Those Soviet/East German guards weren't going to stop because some danged hippie was in their way. One of them looked sad that he didn't get to stomp on me.

American pickup trucks look preposterous and inconsiderate to the rest of the world, but they don't look gay. As a matter of fact, Americans in general are so careful not to be perceived as gay that they do all sorts of ridiculous "manly" things instead (pickup trucks included).
