Russian surgeons have claimed to have found a two-inch fir tree growing inside a man's lung. The amazing 'discovery' was apparently made when they opened up Artyom Sidorkin, 28, to remove what they thought was a serious tumour. Medical staff said that Mr Sidorkin must have inhaled a seed, which later sprouted into a small fir tree inside his lung.

I've read this debunked.
And to me it seemed very simple: How would the baby fir have received enough light to produce the green pigment without the process of photosynthesis?

True, this has been debunked. Theory is that the man aspirated the fir tree piece when intoxicated and doesn't actually remember doing it. The spikey leaves would prevent it from coming back out. Ouch!
Unlikely as that seems it is more likely and supported by case studies than the tree "growing" in there.
Yep - this was a hoax - I believe something about the paper being something like the US ones with bat-boy, put out on the Russian Equivalent of April Fools Day.
