The Pancake Appreciation Society

The pancake has a very long history and has featured in cookbooks as far back as 1439. The tradition of tossing or flipping them is almost as old.

I had a pembroke corgi when I was a kid who would cry--loudly--whenever mom made us pancakes because she was afraid she wouldn't get any! This was the only thing that made her (the dog) act that way.

You had to put the maple syrup on, too. If you forgot it, she'd stare at you as if she thought you had gone utterly insane!

She was otherwise a very well-behaved dog. The pancakes were the only thing that made her do this. Amazing. : )
