I had to look up what tamale was. The dictionary says it's a Mexican dish made of chopped meat and crushed peppers, highly seasoned, wrapped in cornhusks spread with masa, and steamed.

I'm so sorry you've never had one! They're yummy. They also come in sweet versions. The correct singular is "tamal", but that's not used much outside of Mexico.
