Beauties With Big Brains

Beautiful girls are a dime a dozen when it comes to Hollywood, but brains... not so much. You don't have to look too long at the tabloids in the supermarket checkout lines for a few minutes and you're sure to catch the latest on Paris or Lindsay to see that most famous actresses and singers didn't exactly graduate from Harvard.

But there are movie stars out there who actually did graduate from Harvard. And Yale. And Oxford. Some of the hottest actresses out there have resumes that are more impressive than their looks. Here are ten of the hottest smart girls in Hollywood.

Beauties with Big Brains honorable mentions.

What about Brook Shields? She graduated from Princeton.

No offense to the 'geniuses' graduating from Ivy League schools, but the blunt truth behind the american education system is that these women, like the majority of Ivy League graduates, are different from the rest of the population only in that they were born into the tiny, tiny elitist class that allows them opportunities forbidden to the rest of the country (and, admittedly, most of the rest of the world) such as-but certainly not limited to- Upper Crust education, Gourmet Nepotism, and of course careers in entertainment fields, such as acting.

I LOVE this website, and I loathe playing 'stick-in-the-mud,' but this sort of unearned credibility is a largely unacknowledged factor in the tribal system dominating US society, and our elite is ruining the world.

Please stop giving these people credit. The majority of your readers would be just as successful if they had the fortune to be born into one of the upper class families.

Are you saying that people who make something out of their lives - i.e. follow their dreams, take up acting, singing, and graduate from University - should not be given credit just because they are born into 'upper class families'?

I believe they have every right to be given credit.

Unfortunately, I'm apparently unable to post a comment to that site, but..

What an insult that list is!
Most of them only attended college before pursuing fame.

Danica McKellar belongs at the top of that list, not at the bottom of the Honorable Mentions, even below Elizabeth Berkley's fictional character from "Saved by the Bell"!
(They didn't even spell Danica's last name right!)

This woman is a true wonder!

She even provides free math tutoring via her website!

Intelligent people chose to do crappy movies like Pearl Harbor, Basic Instinct, A Beautiful Mind, Leaving Las Vegas and Legally Blonde? Must've done it for the money, then.
