"Crime of the Century" seems a bit dubious. Biggest Tabloid Crimes maybe. Crimes that turned rational people into Monday morning detectives that knew all the answers. 1 little blond girl does not compare to the Holocaust, The Killing Fields, or Rwanda. Now those are crimes.
