Eco Urinal

Designer Yeongwoo Kim created this Eco Urinal where men can pee and wash in the same stand. What Kim has done is incorporated the wash basin just above the spot you take aim to pee.

The reason cited is that you'll save a water flush cycle, coz when you rinse your hand after the job, the same gray water can be used to cleanse the urinal basin.

This is disgusting. If you want to use use gray water to flush with there are much better solutions. The water can drain from standard sinks to a tank and then be used to flush standard urinals.

Why is this disgusting? I really can't see the difference between having water directly rinsing the urinal and storing it somewhere else before doing the same job.

It's an incredibly efficient design. Depending on the existing bathroom, all it requires is the new urinal. The water in and sewage out already exist. Your suggestion would require storage reservoirs and maybe pumps which have both space and electricity requirements.

If you want eco-friendly products to be widely used, you have to take into consideration the cost and ease of adopting the new equipment. Especially in a retrofit which will be your largest market, by far.
